Karns football practices and games have been canceled until Sept. 2, Knox County Schools spokeswoman Carly Harrington confirmed in a text message Thursday to Knox News.
The high school football season begins this week, and Karns was scheduled to travel to Walker Valley in Cleveland on Friday and host Halls on Aug. 28.
Karns is the third school in the Knox News coverage area that has had to cancel its first game of the season. Bearden shut down Aug. 16 because of concerns over the spread of COVID-19. The Bulldogs will not resume football-related activities until Aug. 31.
Greeneville was forced to cancel its Week 1 game against Powell after Greeneville City Schools called off all athletic programs because of cases of COVID-19 among students.
