Top 10 Knoxville-area high school football teams for Week 3

Week 2 of the high school football season saw Powell win in a last-minute comeback for the second straight week. 

Here are the top 10 football teams in the Knoxville area in Week 3: 

1. Alcoa (2-0): Alcoa posted its first shutout of the season, beating Austin-East 55-0. Quarterback Safdar McCrary scored two touchdowns in the win. Alcoa hosts Scott on Friday. Last week: No. 1. 

2. Central (2-0): Wide receiver Liam Fortner scored two touchdowns in Central’s 21-9 win over rival Fulton. Central travels to Sevier County on Friday. Last week: No. 2. 

3. Maryville (1-0): Maryville had an open week last week. Maryville hosts Cleveland on Friday. Last week: No. 3. 

4. West (1-0): West played its first game of the season Saturday, defeating Farragut 30-7, and holding the Admirals to 128 total yards of offense. West faces Karns on Friday. Last week: No. 4. 

5. Powell (2-0): Powell quarterback Jordyn Potts passed for 351 yards and three touchdowns, including the game-winning 20-yard scoring pass on fourth-and-goal in the win over Anderson County. Powell hosts Fulton on Friday. Last week: No. 8. 

6. Catholic (1-1): Catholic lost to Trinity Christian-Cedar Hill on Saturday 49-14. Catholic quarterback Kaden Martin, son of Tennessee wide receivers coach Tee Martin, recorded two total touchdowns. Catholic has an open week. Last week: No. 6. 

7. Oak Ridge (1-1): Oak Ridge struggled on offense in its 19-3 loss to Dobyns-Bennett, totaling 124 yards of total offense and turning the ball over twice. Oak Ridge hosts Campbell County on Friday. Last week: No. 5.
